Masters of Horror

Other people have already been talking about the Friday December 2, episode of Showtime’s Masters of Horror series, Homecoming, directed by Joe Dante (Gremlins), but I figured I’d mention it anyway.

In Homecoming, the country is gripped by terror when it is learned that zombies have stolen the presidential election. According to one of the IMDB reviewers (no permalink to the review, unfortunately), it sounds like the episode’s “sharp” political satire works pretty well. Yet another reason I should have cable.

Update: The entire series looks pretty interesting, with a who’s who list of prominent horror directors (Dario Argento, Tobe Hooper, John McNaughton, and others).

MASTERS OF HORROR very quickly became must-watch TV for me. The premiere, featuring director Don Coscarelli working with material by Joe R. Lansdale after their success with BUBBA HO-TEP, got the show off to a fine start, and the recent Argento episode violated every taboo in television.

Yes, I’ll have to watch it on th eventually DVD collections (or get cable). I noticed later that the Bubba Ho-Tep director had been involved in at least one episode.

Word on the street (or at least on Cinematical, though I can’t find the link) is that Coscarelli and Bruce Campbell are planning a sequel called Bubba Nosferatu, which sounds like lots of fun.

Wow… once again, I’m so glad I read your blog. (Now all I have to do is find someone around here with Showtime and invite myself over –)

It does look interesting, almost interesting enough for me to commit to getting cable.
