Mission Accomplished

No, really….I just sent off my paper for the “Into the Blogosphere” collection, and not to sound smug or anything, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I couldn’t have developed the ideas in this paper without the help, suggestions, and ideas of many of my regular (and even irregular) readers, so consider this entry a small way of saying thanks.

I have no idea if anything I suggested helped or not…but: You’re welcome! I’ll be looking forward to its publication.

I didn’t end up writing about it, but the way that you worked through the “power-law curve” was actually quite helpful when I was thinking through one of my arguments.

In a more general sense, I am among those who believe that all writing is, in a sense, collaborative, and I think that blogs illustrate that fact better than many other media. I’ve felt for a long time that one of the most important parts of any book is the acknowledgements section, especially in the way that they can foreground the fact of collaboration.

Oh, I should have been clearer that the article hasn’t been accepted just yet. The proposal was accepted several weeks ago, and now the paper itself is under reader review, but no matter what happens with the paper, I still feel good about it right now.

I’ll be happy to send the story along by email to anyone who is interested. Just email me at charles[dot]tryon[at]lcc[dot]gatech[dot]edu. I’d like to post it to my blog at some point, but I’d better wait until the whole publication process runs its course.
